2015 Gold Winner! Bath Category, ASID CA Peninsula Chapter Design Awards

The clients’ Master Bath layout was spatially inadequate, awkward and non-functional, with outdated and worn finishes and fixtures.

We enlarged the floor plan, making it feel spacious through the use of glass and simple detailing. The footprint of the space was still relatively small, but the reorganization of space was done from an architectural focus, delineating planes and shapes through colors and textures. The solid surfaces accent the room while defining the negative spaces in which they encompass. Functionality was improved with the addition of a separate toilet room, and a large, open shower, the floor of which continues uninterrupted from the main bathroom floor, without a threshold. Textured tiles create an interesting feature wall. An LED column between the toilet room and shower remains lit at all times, specifically to provide nighttime lighting, and other hidden lighting in the space was also updated to LED.
